There's so much on offer

No matter the time of year, the activities on offer at Ian Lowe Hunting are extensive.  Your choice of activities can change as well - depending on if you choose to enjoy a fixed location hunt at our favorite Poronui Ranch in the North Island - or if you'd rather go on the road to travel and hunt.  When you choose a 'road trip' hunt adventure, activities can range from jet boating to helicopter fun and sightseeing.

A firm favorite of many is to combine a fixed location hunt at Poronui with a multi day sightseeing adventure afterwards.  Here's a glimpse of what's available at magnificent Poronui Ranch.

Poronui - Enjoy being a world away from the everyday

No matter the time of year, you can unwind and completely disconnect at Poronui.  Here you'll find the kind of 'time out' that only comes with being in thousands of acres of wilderness complete with panoramic vistas.  Whether your time out means a relaxing massage, sitting in the saddle of a horse or reading a book by the river your experience here takes place in a secluded wilderness where few visitors to New Zealand have been.

Sports and relaxation centre

At home on the ranch is a modern sports and relaxation centre, complete with a gym and health club facilities. Enjoy the steam and sauna rooms or indulge in relaxing massage treatments.   There's also a cigar room and a full sized antique English billiard table.

Bike riding

Explore the ranch on two wheels with high quality mountain bikes available for you to use.  Wind your way around 100 miles of metal roads and dirt tracks that meander through the hills and alongside trout packed streams. You'll quickly discover even more spectacular views and with no bears, snakes or coyotes to worry about, you can make the most of carefree adventure.

Horse Riding

Adventure beyond the hunting with 16,000 acres of virgin beech, native forest and open grassland to explore from a saddle.  Poronui has at least six horses stabled.  Available to you is a riding school and professional instructors and guides.  Guides are patient, highly skilled in horsemanship and hold in depth knowledge of the ranch.  They'll be sure to tell you a tale or two as you go.

Sporting Clays

A steep wooded valley is the perfect spot for the sporting clays course.  An automated twenty trap layout has been designed to simulate either upland game birds or waterfowl. An unlimited variety of targets is supplied by a programmed remote release system that allows for twenty singles, pairs and flurries to be shot at each shooting station.   For novice shooters there is tuition available, along with an armoury with a number of high quality guns and rifles for rent.  Facilities include a separate field kiosk with cleaning facilities and refreshment bar.
