Personally guided day excursions

Day excursions with our 'non hunter' tour guides are second to none and pretty good fun.  Our tour guiding service and our personable guides are flexible and happy to tailor any outing to suit your preference.

Ideal location

Our central location means that not only are we just 30 minutes from a regional airport, we are also just 30 minutes drive from stunning Lake Taupo, one hour from Hawke's Bay wine country and 1.5 hours from Rotorua - one of New Zealand's top two tourism destinations.  It's also not uncommon for our guests to fly to Wellington for an overnight trip with Lee - and be warned, many of our guests have found brilliant shopping trophies in our capital city that can rival those taken in the field. Here's a snapshot of the three towns within 1.5 hours drive of the ranch.

Napier

Napier, less than one hour away, is a seaside art deco city which attracts 1930's enthusiasts to walk, talk and party.  Many of our guests also enjoy a visit to the world's largest mainland gannet colony and nesting area on the wild and beautiful Cape Kidnappers.  The region also boasts world class golf, art galleries and antiques, Maori heritage, outdoor wilderness experiences and adventure activities to provide an enticing regional experience to really make the most of your time in New Zealand. As the local wine lovers say "go slow and savour"

Taupo

The Lake Taupo region is a stunning landscape of Dual World Heritage status. It's easy to see when you sip coffee on the lakefront and appreciate the snow capped volcanoes planted firmly at the southern end of the lake.  Taupo is home to the spectacular Huka Falls, and with fishing and activities on and around the lake, it's a favorite of both kiwis and visitors.  Taupo has a good variety of shops and restaurants, with a wonderful golf course and regular sporting events.

Rotorua

Rotorua offers a selection of activities, in particular those related to New Zealand indigenous culture. This is the home of cultural performances, with many of our guests enjoying the Te Puia Maori show and the browsing for keepsakes made of hand carved Pounamu (Jade) and Pua (similar to Abalone). Rotorua is new Zealand's most active volcanic region, evidence of this is surprisingly common with steam rising from cracks in the road, and hissing water bubbling in pools along the lake edges.
